CNN —On July 11, 2014, I was running with a bull in Pamplona, Spain. The story is a fascinating adventure into the Fiesta de San Fermín, also known as The Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. By the time I finished reading that novel, I decided I would go to Spain and run with the bulls and I would become a writer. So I began to run with Lecuona, David Rodríguez, Aitor Arístegui and others leading bulls up the streets. MADRID, Sept 24 (Reuters) - A man died from his injuries after he was gored by a bull at a festival in eastern Spain, authorities said. The Spanish man, who was not named, was gored in his side by a bull called Cocinero during the bull running festival in the town of Pobla de Farnals in Valencia region on Saturday. He was taken to hospital but died later, officials there said on Sunday. A second Spanish man was gored in the leg by the same bull and was in a stable condition in hospital, they added. But many activists say they are dangerous and cruel, and debates over whether they should be abolished have become more heated in recent years.

CNN —A Minnesota woman was severely injured by a bison in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in Medora, North Dakota, according to the National Park Service. A bison gored a 47-year-old Arizona woman Monday morning in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. In the wake of the two incidents involving national park guests within days of each other, the National Park Service has issued a warning that bison can be easily agitated during mating season. Use extra caution and give them additional space during this time,” the park service said. “Approaching bison threatens them, and they may respond by bluff charging, head bobbing, pawing, bellowing, or snorting,” according to the park service.

CNN —Yellowstone National Park has urged visitors to protect wildlife after a string of incidents that have left animals killed or endangered, including one in which tourists gave a newborn elk a ride in their car. “The park calls on visitors to protect wildlife by understanding how their actions can negatively impact wildlife.”On Memorial Day weekend, visitors put a newborn elk calf in their car and brought it to the West Yellowstone Police Department. On May 28, two adult black bears, both dark chocolate brown in color, were struck and killed in separate vehicle collisions in the park, Yellowstone said. Yellowstone also warned visitors to keep their distance from the wildlife after a number of incidents were reported. Yellowstone emphasized that park regulations require visitors to remain 25 yards away from all wildlife and at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves.

A Texas hiker is warning other outdoor enthusiasts to beware of bison through a viral TikTok video that shows one charging her on a trail, sending her to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Clark, the Texas Park and Wildlife Department, and United Regional Wichita Falls, the hospital where Clark said she received treatment, did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Once nearly extinct, bison now number half a million, with most part of private herds, according to the Texas Park and Wildlife Department. Caprock Canyons State Park is the home of the Texas State Bison Herd, which is monitored by park officials, according to the department. "As a rule, bison require at least 50 yards (half a football field) between them and people," the Texas Park and Wildlife Department said.
